Thanks for the honest feedback, Talia! We definitely recommend the Travel mat for traveling and not your every day practice. The Nomad is another great portable mat with a bit more cushion and the Unity, Original and Aura are all 6mm thick!
The travel mat is plenty thin enough to pack in a carry-on bag for air travel, and is surprisingly comfortable. I look forward to my travels this summer so I can start using it!
Thanks for the great review, Lynn!
Weight: If saving weight in your luggage is very important to you, then this yoga mat is one of your lightest options. I weighed the 72x24” mat by itself, and it was 1.625 lb. For comparison in my photos, I also weighed the June & Juniper Travel (left) and Jade Yoga Voyager mats (right). The June & Juniper weighs 2.3375 lb and Jade weighs 1.34375 lb, the latter of which is hardly a noticeable difference from Yoloha when held in your hand.
Cushion/ Thickness: All 4 travel mats I bought provide effectively no padding despite being slightly different thicknesses. The black rubber backing on this mat looks like the same one used on June & Juniper.
Grip: The grip on this mat is slippery in downward dog without water, but sufficiently grippy with water on my hands or sprayed on the mat.
Design: I like the natural look of the cork and the "encompass" design I picked is unique and pretty. The ink is missing from the design in a few random spots, but I think that adds to the organic look and probably is due to the printing method used. If you are the type who feels bothered when one tile is out of place in a mosaic, then the missing ink might mess with you because when I'm in downward dog, the first thing my eye gravitates to is all the little missing ink spots! In my photos you can see the color of the ink is also not as vibrant in person as the sales photos show. It would probably be even prettier if it was that vibrant.
If mat length is important to you, you can see in my photo that Yoloha's smaller 72x24” mat is still longer than the other two travel mats I was able to unroll.
Of the 4 travel mats I tried, this travel yoga mat was the only one that fulfilled all the factors I cared most about: 1. sufficiently grippy, 2. lightweight, and 3. a pretty design. And it didn't have any negative surprises that some of the other mats had, like a strong smell, attracting hair particles, or static cling. It's a nice bonus that cork is naturally antimicrobial, which could be useful when it's in your suitcase.
Really nice yoga mat! Love it.
Thanks so much, Venifa!
Purchased this travel mat fall 2020 and for 1st time relied on videos to practice at home. It was my 1st Yoloha Yoga purchase. The materials used in mat and company mission convinced me to give it a try. I then purchased a 2nd one for my spouse. Now they are used for 5-min movement in the A-M, functional exercises for neck and post-knee surgery recovery, 20-min of HITT, and 10-min of core. It has been great for these activities and without shoes, just barefeet. They are strictly used on carpeted surface, which probably enhances cushion. To date. we have not used mats on any other surface. In yoga, I do H20 spray mat during short breaks. Still prefer the smooth cork feel over tacky rubber. They stay rolled up when not in use and are wiped with vinegar-water solution. EZPZ.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Jacques! We are stoked you are enjoying you are both enjoying your travel mats
