Flow Through Summer: Staying Connected to Your Practice While Traveling

Summer invites us to explore new places, new experiences, and sometimes, new versions of ourselves. But while your itinerary might be filled with beach days, road trips, or airport lounges, your yoga practice doesn’t have to be left behind.

Yoga is designed to be flexible, both literally and figuratively. With a few mindful shifts, your practice can travel with you, helping you stay grounded, energized, and tuned in no matter where your summer takes you.

Here’s how to stay connected to your practice on the go:

1. Be Flexible and Adapt

A consistent practice doesn’t have to mean long sessions every day. Traveling is the perfect opportunity to embrace a more intuitive, adaptable approach.

  • Shorten your sessions: Opt for 10–20 minute practices when time is tight. A little movement can go a long way.

  • Keep it simple: Simple poses like child's pose, happy baby and legs up the wall can be done virtually anywhere (even in bed!).

  • Pack the essentials: A lightweight travel mat, a block, and your favorite playlist go a long way. (Although you really don’t need anything to practice!)

  • Honor your body: Whether you’re stiff from a flight or energized by adventure, tune in and let your body lead.

2. Tap into online resources 

No matter where you are, support is just a tap away.

  • Join a virtual class: Many studios (including our MVMT Collective) offer on-demand flows you can access from your hotel room, patio, or tent.

  • Use yoga apps: There are plenty of options for guided sessions and quick practices built for travel.

  • Find free inspiration: YouTube and other platforms offer thousands of videos to keep your practice fresh and accessible.

3. Embrace the Travel Experience

Let your surroundings inspire your practice.

  • Practice in nature: Flow by the ocean, meditate at sunrise, or stretch under the stars.

  • Visit local studios: Discover new communities and teachers that bring a fresh perspective to your practice.

  • Stay hydrated: Summer heat and travel can take a toll. Drink water before, during, and after you move.

  • Move mindfully: Traveling can be tiring. Give yourself grace, rest when needed, and enjoy the journey.

Wherever You Are, Your Practice Is Too

You don’t need a perfect setup or uninterrupted time to practice yoga. You just need a moment. A breath. A little space.
