Care
Cleaning the top (cork/rubber side) of the mat is recommended once a week with normal practice. If used daily or for hot yoga clean the top after every practice. This helps prevent body’s oils from building up and keeps the mat looking and smelling fresh. Spray the mat with our Detox Cleaning Spray or a natural yoga mat cleaner and allow to air dry with the mat laying out flat.
Grip Tip
The cork surface increases grip when wet. Use our Grip Spray or sprinkle water on your mat where your hand and feet go before practice for added traction.

I sweat profusely during workouts. My yoga instructor recommended I purchase a cork mat prior to beginning her hot yoga class. I searched on-line and found that YOLOHA offered a 84″ x 30″ mat. Fits my 5’10” 195lb. frame perfectly. Your Native Cork Mat retains it’s grip during the whole class. Well worth the cost.

I got some very strange looks in Bikram initially when I didn’t have the standard mat + towel. But I have honestly never had the grip with a towel that I do now with my cork mat. I feel very secure in my poses, and the mat is SO simple to clean. Even better, it smelled like absolutely nothing when I received it in the mail, unlike other mats that can take weeks to rid themselves of new mat stench. Would recommend this mat to anyone!

Today was my first time on my Native, been doing vinyasa yoga for about a year now. I’ve struggled with slipping and bunched up towels the whole time and as much as I truly love the style of yoga I’ve chosen frustration would begin to make its way into my mind taking me away from my practice. My whole practice changed in one hot hour this morning! Do to this Native Mat!!!!! No slippedge, felt more confidence than ever and ready to push boundaries I wouldn’t have tried before. Thank you so much!

I bought this mat July 2017. There were periods I didnt use it for a few months. Let’s be fair and say i used it for about a year total (up to date). Here’s my experience:
It’s hard to find a good mat for Ashtanga practitioners. For those who don’t know, Ashtanga is a type of vinyasa meant to be practiced 6 days a week. It’s one of the more dynamic and “acrobatic” types of yoga. Thus, your mat is gonna get some good usage. Grip, traction, solidity, and durability are some of the most important factors as a practitioner. This mat fulfills all those basic criterias and more.
This mat doesn’t provide a sticky or tacky feeling like you’re putting your hand on glue that alot of other mats do. Often “sticky” mats are useful for dry grip but do not hold up for sweaty practices. This mat offers superior traction and grip not like any other (from the very first time). This helps avoid any possible injuries caused by factors you have less control over, like a slippery mat.It allows you to stay in place without feeling like the mat constantly remains stuck on you when you lift your hands and feet off the mat.
I live in an area that has very dry winters (and cold) and very humid summers. Im very pleased to say that this mat has maintained a superior grip for BOTH bone-dry and very humid, sweaty environments. That seems hard to find when one doesn’t want to comprise durability. Also, the grip just gets better and better as you sweat. It doesn’t matter how much you sweat, this will not ever cause a problem for you germ-wise or grip-wise. They were actually able to achieved a closed celled mat without the use of toxic and environmentally unfriendly materials, but that’s just icing on the cake. It also dries very fast when you clean it.
Ill never forget my first time i tried this mat: It’s like you have been in a relationship where you’re comfortable. The type of comfort you’re used to. The type that is what you know and all you know, nothing different. You decide its time to move on and try a new relationship. But This new relation is completely different. Like nothing you’ve really experience before. This one doesn’t offer you the cushy (possibly unstable) comfort you’re used to. This one is solid, and supportive. Grounding, yet free. It shows you a new way to do things, a better way. One that allows you to become the best version of yourself. You have no fear or worry of ever falling because you just know it’s got you. You can literally FEEL it’s got you. That is the native cork mat. It allows you to form a solid foundation for yourself while providing a gentle yet stable supportive ground that is durable. It provides cushioning when and where needed without being “cushy”. This is ideal for balance poses and general stability.
The native cork mat istruly exceptional. Im really happy I didn’t buy the original cork mat. This one has the perfect amount of dry/wet traction needed that I dont think the other one would provide. Big thanks to the team that helped me in my decision. It is expensive, especially if you are shipping it to Canada. The trade off is, I really do think this mat can easily last you 10, maybe 20 years + (depending how you care for it). This had the potential to be a lifetime mat, which if you buy, will most likely be the case seeing as they have a lifetime guarantee.
—————————————-> Quick Summary of pros and cons (with some things I didn’t discuss above)
PROS:
-Not Sticky
-Excellent Traction
-Exceptional Dry/Wet Grip (that gets even better the sweatier is gets)
-No break in period
-Solid: it feels so stable and lays flat
-Durable: This mat can take a beating. and will easily last you years
-Cushioned without feeling cushy (this could be a con for some but I find it ideal for Ashtanga practitioners)
-Good “standard” size at 72″ instead of usual 68″ (im 5’9″, so 72 is perfect for me, more than enough room)
-Dries fast
-Natural and works: antimicrobial and very sustainable (no odours)
-Light
CONS:
-Pricey (Especially if shipping to Canada – But still worth every penny)
-Not Ideal for travel (It’s light but bulky)
-Jute carry string digs into shoulder (not really something that matters personally – just get a bag for your mat)

Great quality, very durable mat. Love the superior grip as well. Only complaint is that the tops of my toes occasionally get scuffed up on the cork material, especially when the mat is a bit wetter on the surface…

Let me introduce myself first. I have been practicing yoga for over 3 Years at home with my Manduka PROlite mat. However, 3 months ago, I obtained a membership to a yoga studio and have been practicing hot yoga (10 classes per week/ 1hr length each). Classes consist of power, vinyasa, yin, and restorative.
Let me introduce my yoga mats… The Manduka PROlite is a terrible mat for hot yoga. I enjoy using this mat for casual use and practice at home, and taking it with me outdoors. But the minute sweat hits this mat… all hope of grip is lost. While this mat will last a lifetime due to its durable construction, I need something that’s going keep my body safe and secure … in the present moment…
I tried a B Mat (Everyday) Mat on an instructor’s recommendation. Although it was incredibly grippy at first, I found I started to slip out of key pressure poses like downward dog, puppy pose, and wide-legged forward fold after 10-20min into the hot class. Nonpressured movements (e.g., yin/vinyasa transitions) were also painful as my skin would catch the grippy texture of the mat and give me “mat burn”. I also detested cleaning the mat by soaking it in the bathtub and waiting for it to dry for 2 days… Considering how much I practice and how easily open-cell mats get filthy, this would not fit my hot yoga lifestyle. Goodbye.
Frustrated, I decided to try something different. After considerable time researching, I found the Yoloha Native Mat. I mean, why not try a cork mat. The Yoloha Family offers full refunds for their products if customers aren’t happy. I don’t believe I will need to take the Willey Family up this offer. Outside the hot room, this mat has wonderful grip. And inside the hot room… what a performance. My hands and feet do not move. At all. And what a beautiful feeling it is to be able to practice yoga without the distraction of slipping or a wet towel under my hands. It is almost as if I am … actually practicing yoga. Free of distraction. And when I come home, all I have to do is give it a quick spray with a natural mat cleaner and let it (quickly) air dry. So simple.
It is worth mentioning some other notable features of the mat. It does have a strong smell of rubber, even after a couple of weeks. But it is slowly fading. If just needs time, like some other mats. The mat is also quite dense. More so than my Manduka, even though the two mats are 5mm thick. I personally prefer a dense mat for my practice and body. But this may be con for others. But these latter points are a matter of preference. Let me get back to the facts here… it’s pricy. It grips. And it’s worth every single nickle (yes, I am Canadian). And backed by the wonderful customer service and support of the Willey Family.

Just received my mat and hit my first hot fire class. This mat was insane, supportive and grippy. It makes you feel like Spider-Man. Great company, philanthropic, eco-conscious and most importantly outstanding terrific product! I couldn’t recommend this any more. I have had other less expensive cork yoga mats but this is so worth it.

This is BY FAR the BEST mat I have used for hot yoga. Its great for any style of practice. It has excellent grip, great feel, perfect thickness and its very light weight. I have two other mats that are designed for hot yoga(aka get sweaty and you wont slip – not the case) and they couldn’t get me through a full 75 minute heated class without using a towel. Now I dont have to bring a towel to class, I have amazing grimp all the time, and bonus, its dry in 30 minutes. SUPER happy with this mat. I highly recommend this mat!

Here is my review, being a male practitioner in his second year, based on a couple of months’ usage:
Based on the high price and all the adulations, I’m quite disappointed with the mat. The sole, but very crucial, problem for me is that the mat does not offer sufficient support for my knees. Poses like Anjaneyasana (low lunge) are downright painful. Now, considering all the excellent views, it might very well be that this has to do with my anatomy and not the mat itself. It should be mentioned, however, that I have no knee injuries, and that I haven’t had this problem with most other mats I’ve used and tried, e.g. the Manduka Pro. I have only now noticed that the mat is actually 1mm thinner than the original mat, so I suppose in one sense I have my self to blame. Still, my unproblematic experience with other mats does include some 5 mm ones.
Other aspects of the mat, like the grip, are really nice, but the insufficient support unfortunately compels me to get a new mat, which most likely means that this one won’t be used. I would have made use of the full refund policy, were it not for the fact that I live in Taiwan. With no free shipping here a return gets quite expensive.
Subjectively, I would give the mat only two stars. However, I like the company’s ideals and the customer service has been good. In addition, I realise that although my issue with the mat is sufficient to prevent me from using it, the issue is not one everyone will have, and also that in other aspects it’s a good mat.

I’ve used this mat for five months and it is, by far, the best mat I’ve owned. It is still in perfect shape after near daily use. I do Ghosh, Bikram, and Baptiste Vinyasa, and it has been great for all three. Highly recommended and worth every penny.
Note — I sweat pretty heavily in Bikram classes and, other than in one or two extremely hot classes, the mat has handled the rigors of Bikram wonderfully. It’s great to no longer use (and constantly wash) towels. Just don’t forget to bring a small hand towel for Rabbit 🙂

I would give it 6 stars if I could! Tried my new Native Cork Mat for the first time today and it was even more amazing than I could have expected. I practice heated power yoga, and I sweat…alot. I was using the Lululemon mat, which I do like, but would still need to use a towel as my sweat would pool and I would slip on it. Not with this mat! Even with the ever so slight pooling of the sweat, the mat was sticky and not slippery at all. I was also amazed at how quickly it dried after class. I cannot recommend this mat enough! The best!

I purchased the original style Yoloha mat about 3 years ago and loved everything about it. I think this mat is better than the original style because it provides the same level of grip, but improves on the mat overall. It weighs less, has a bit more cushion while still being solid, and the added rubber to the top side makes the friction less abrasive on my hands and feet. I highly recommend this mat for any temperature yoga practice.

I was using a yoga mat from Manduka, which was pretty slippery (couldn’t keep a downward facing dog after sweating), really heavy and my hands smelled the strong scent of rubber after practice, but this Native Mat Is in every case the opposite – no slip, very light weighted and no strange smells. I thought the grippyness was more like “sticking to your palm” texture, but it’s actually smooth and stable (how do they do that?!). I definitely have no problem with the fear of slipping anymore. During the practice I do have cork/rubber crumbs on my fingers and feet, which looks like exfoliated dead skins, but that does not make the quality of this mat worse. Overall I highly recommend to invest into this amazing mat to make your practice better!

I’m a beginner at yoga but have been working out at the gym for several years before my girlfriend convinced me to start trying classes at our local CorePower Yoga studio. I realized quickly that I needed a mat that would not slip. I sweat a LOT during those 100 degree classes and this mat has been perfect. Durable, doesn’t slip when it gets wet (actually gets even more grip). Highly suggest if you’re looking for a quality mat that can withstand heavy sweating with no slipping. Plus, looks great!

First off the customer service was great!!! Second, the mat is all as advertised ! Super well made and grips like nothing I’ve tried. I’m a heavy sweat guy in hot yoga and this thing stayed sticky in the few classes I have done so far. I did put the towel down for the lake on my second class but that was to preserve the mat I just got attached to.
Seriously, best mat ever by a mile!

I hadn’t heard of Yoloha until I planned to commit to a yoga studio and a friend, who does a lot of yoga, recommended it. The cleanliness of cork and how it’s anti microbial was a huge factor, also that it is sustainably made. When I received it there was an adorable hand written note on paper that has seeds in it, and is to be planted, and corresponding with the people of Yoloha was a joy. I love my mat and am so happy I decided to spend more money up front to have a beautiful yoga mat and a healthy experience doing yoga.

I purchased my native mat about a month ago, and I practice 3-5 times a week. I mostly do vinyasa in a heated room and I sweat a lot. Like, a *lot*. I’m also 6′ tall, so I end up going off of most conventional mats. It’s always been embarrassing because I end up needing to wipe down the floor around my mat because there’s sweat everywhere.
Before the native mat, I’d used a bunch of different mats made from a towely material. They all worked fine, but they’d lose traction the more I’d wash them. Because I sweat so much, I need to wash them after each use, they take a day to dry, and I essentially needed to rotate between three. Using the native mat was definitely different at first because of the smooth surface (and being used to standing on something that feels like fabric). I don’t find myself slipping at all, though. My grip is really solid, even inverted, and when there’s sweat on the mat.
I have the 80″ mat and have plenty of room. Looking around, I also don’t feel like I’m taking up that much more space than anyone else. Whenever someone asks me about it, I always recommend it.

Brian, Team YOLOHA, I found this review very motivating. After having purchased it, I’ll share with you what I share with everyone; this mat changed my practice and my life! Typically, as soon as my feet touch a mat I start sweating, regardless of the temperature. With the Native Cork Yoga Mat I can simultaneously stand in a puddle and ease into a pose with confidence. Also noteworthy, the mat has just the right amount of cushion for both balancing and long held knee poses.
Not having an opportunity to use or see one of these mats locally, I was hesitant to make the investment however I’m grateful I did and share that with all who ask – Big Fan

I am so in love with my Native mat. It has a little more cushion to it than I was expecting, while still being incredibly grounding, which was a pleasant surprise! This mat is actually more non-slip in regular, non-heated classes than other high end mats I have tried in the past. Pricey, yes, but with all of these great features and the fact that its made by such and earth-conscious company make it worth every penny. 🙂

I’ve been practicing yoga for around 10 years, and never invested in a nice mat before now. Used mostly Manduka at studios and whatever cheapie random brands at home. Since I practice a lot of hot yoga, I’ve used a mat towel frequently, also. It is so liberating to be able to practice without a mat towel or a slippery plastic mat! Totally isn’t slippery when all sweaty, and has such a great feel. I’m so glad I found this mat!

This is THE BEST mat I’ve found for hot yoga. I have a “collection” of mats including two from Lululemon and a cork one from a different maker, and none of them even come close the awesomeness of the Native Cork Yoga Mat. I thought loved my old cork mat, but my first practice on the Native Cork opened my eyes to a whole new experience.
Yoloha figured out the secret to the perfect mat – it has just the right balance of grip from the cork and comfort from the rubber. It’s a match made in yoga heaven! I was hesitant at first because I’m used to an extremely firm mat so I can feel grounded during my practice, and I’ve only practiced on pure cork. With the Native Cork, I swear I felt even more grounded and my wrists and knees reaped the benefit of the extra cushion. And the best part???? NO SLIPPING! It’s also much lighter than I expected so more bonus points there.
Yes, this mat is an investment but would a dedicated runner buy sneakers from a discount store to run a marathon? No. You owe it to yourself to practice on mat that supports not only you but your practice. You can’t practice when you’re slipping and sliding all over the place in down dog now can you?
Oh, and if you think you don’t need one of those pretty cork wrapped bottles….. yes you do! Totally love mine!

I really like this mat and have gotten several compliments on it. As advertised it has good "stick" when dry and really good "stick" when moist. I love not having to use a towel anymore. The mat also does not slide, in the least, on the floor either. It rolls up easy and is lighter than it looks.
The only complaint I have is the slight rubber odor the mat has. It is not overpowering but noticeable, I think it is fading away though.

I have to admit that I was quite skeptical about placing this order as I have been thinking about purchasing it for several months.. What was holding me back was whether it would be able to keep me stable while doing hot yoga since I get quite sweaty during the class. I am here to tell you that I can’t be more happy with this mat as it has totally changed my class performance as I no longer have to worry about slipping on the towel and can focus on positions, etc. It is absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend it to anyone as you may need to lightly spray the mat at the beginning of class too add to the traction. Get off the fence and purchase it!! You won’t be sorry! Well worth the price!! Enjoy

As a reference point, I am a 5’9" male and weigh about 170#. I had some doubts before buying this mat due to the high price, but it is worth every penny. I usually practice at home and have had problems with slipping on other mats because my hands and feet sweat a lot. That problem is no longer an issue and I have no problem maintaining perfect grip on this mat from the first minute I start my practice. I usually do hatha, restorative, and yin and find comfort on this mat. I feel safe that I won’t slip and there is just enough cushion for my joints while at the same time I feel grounded to the floor while doing balancing poses. There is no chemical smell at all and keeping it clean is a breeze using a DIY mat cleaner I mixed and a damp washcloth. If for some crazy reason I manage to wreck this mat, which I don’t imagine happening, I will be buying the same one again, possibly with one of the art prints on it. Do yourself a big favor and buy this mat!

I bought both native and original and i can Tell that both are super! Native is softer and more comfortable (more like standard rubber mats) and offers a perfect grip also with dry hands (original needs some little sweat or spray to start a good grip)……I Think is perfect for ones that wants the benefits of cork but dont like the cork touch….and really it has a strong grip since first minute of practice! Thanks! ….but i prefere original one cause of its texture. …its smell….its strenght! TRY BOTH!!!!

Pros: no chemical smell, lightweight, nice hemp carry strap, supportive material, can use outside, great when wet, easy to clean, easy to roll and transport, perfect when sweaty.
Cons: if you have dry hands they will slip a bit, and to have a good grip it has to be lightly sprayed with water

I love this mat! I always feel like I am the sweatiest person in a hot yoga class– however, with this mat it really doesn’t matter how much I sweat as it seriously grips and no matter how sweaty my palms or feet may be, they don’t slip! I would definitely recommend this if every other mat you’ve tried out has slipping problems; very happy with this Yoloha mat!

I’ve been doing hot yoga for about a decade now and have been wanting to splurge on a cork yoga mat from the advise of several yoga instructors. I did some research and found the Yoloha Native Cork Mat came highly recommended for hot yoga, specifically. With my other yoga mats in the past, my hands and feet tend to slide if I don’t have a towel – with and without sweat. The first time I used this mat (without a towel), I had NO issue with sliding and it felt extra grippy throughout the 1 hour and 15 minute class. I’ve used it multiple times since receiving it and it is still just as grippy. Plus, this mat is super cute and is easy to keep clean. I truly love this mat!!!
Also, the wildflower personalized thank you card and FAST shipping – to Hawaii let alone – was exceptional and I was thoroughly impressed with these services!!

I use the native mat for hot yoga classes, and the grip is excellent no matter how sweaty you get. It also lays flat for me every time I use it. I was complimented on it’s appearances the first time I used it. This is a quality mat that’s worth the cost.

It Works! I’m living in Singapore, and my yoga practice are mostly in un-aircon and ambient air conditions, very very sweaty. have tried different towels on top of the mat which aren’t bad but they bunch up and so on. This mat has the most grip in sweaty conditions – and the sweatier you get the more grip you get – perfect !

This mat is truly remarkable. It looks so good that it demands to be left out all the time. It calls to me from some ancient cork forest. It whispers, "practice" and I obey. The smell evokes something from my childhood: deeply nostalgic, safe and comforting. The visual texture is something to behold. If you stare deeply into it and let your eyes relax, it becomes the gnarled bark of the cork tree from which it came. It’s as grippy as they say. I find the amount of cushion, the thickness and density, to be absolutely ideal. I’ve adopted a slightly wider hand placement in plank and down dog and the mat’s extra couple inches of width means my fingers don’t dangle over the edge. I don’t know what else to say but to express my gratitude. You guys nailed it.

Overall I am extremely happy with this mat. It’s nearly 100 percent as advertized. The only exception is that it really needs some moisture for the non-slip benefit. When I do take a heated class it’s great not to need a towel. When it’s a slower more meditative practice a little water on the hands does the trick.

The mat is nice. I am curious to test the durability long-term. The non-slip surface is exactly what I was looking for.

It must be that all my lucky stars was aligned that day I stumbled upon "Yoloha" I was so intriqued with what I saw on your website, so I decided to take plunge and put in an order. I am kind of a hoarder. Currently owned about 15 of various Lululemon mats, Manduka Pro, JadeYoga’s Fusion…etc JadeYoga’s Fusion has been my favorite one because of the grips it provides. But now I have a new favorite!! Very happy with my purchase. The Native Cork Mat passed the Hot Power Vinyasa class with flying colors. And it is so much lighter than hauling my Extra Long, Extra Wide JadeYoga Fusion. Only two things I personally wish for it to be the perfect mat for me: 1. More cushioning 2. Option for printed graphic But these are just cherry on top. I love my Native Cork Yoga Mat. I am so happy I took this leap of faith ;P

This mat is very exceptional.
It’s great for hot yoga because it grips very well.
It also doesn’t smell horrid like other rubber mats (no smell at all).
We also have the cork yoga wheel. This is equally exceptional!
What a great product and conscious company. Their customer servos also tippy top!

I do hot yoga 3-4 times a week and I was using a cheap $20 mat with a yoga towel. I was getting tired of my towel twisting and moving throughout my practice so I decided to take the plunge and buy a nice mat. I contacted Yoloha and asked for recommendations. I got a very thorough, prompt response which I couldn’t have been more thankful for! I’ve been using my mat for a few weeks now and I have no clue why I waited so long to buy a nice mat. I absolutely love it. I don’t slip, I don’t feel unstable, I love it. The texture of the mat took some getting used to but besides that, I love it. Slight odor when you first get it but not anything bad or strong. The mat itself is beautifully designed and very natural looking. I would suggest getting a bag for it or a different strap because the jute strap is really uncomfortable to use when walking to class.

I am loving the wonderful grip of the Native Yoloha Mat! I can practice freely without adjusting the mat or using a yoga towel. It is the perfect length and width for me (I’m 5’8"), and it rolls up nicely. It feels so good knowing this mat is eco-friendly, sustainable, and handcrafted! Thank you Yoloha Family! It would be wonderful to be able to personalize the Native Mat. I always receive inquiries about your unique products and LOVE referring others to YOLOHA! 🙂
