Someone asked me the other night, “how do you feel right now?”
.
What I really wanted to say was “Well, I just got into a stupid argument. I feel stressed about my finances. I think I’m starting my cycle so I feel all out of whack. And I just walked up the stairs and stubbed my toe pretty bad... I’m pissed.”
.
Buttttttt I didn’t want to scare him away so I contemplated just saying, “I’m fine.”
.
I read somewhere that if someone says they’re fine, that answer almost always means they’re far from it.
.
It’s silly that people feel uneasy sharing exactly how they feel. Anytime I ask someone how they’re doing, I WANT to hear the honest answer because I know how relieving it can be to share. It feels good to say it out loud.
.
But I get it. I get where the uneasiness comes from and when rolls are reversed, when I’m asked how I’m doing, I don’t want to feel like a burden - especially when I’m having a bad day. So I’m usually “fine.” 🤷🏼‍♀️

Let’s challenge ourselves, together. Start by eliminating that ‘f’ word from your vocabulary and replace it with how you truly feel. If you’re great, I’ll say that. If I’m exhausted, I’ll say that. If sad or excited, say that.

I’m going to share exactly how I feel, the moment I’m asked. And you bet that I expect the same from you 😘
