My name is Bree, and I love sharing yoga with every person I meet. When I started practicing yoga, I had trouble focusing in a traditional yoga class and I thought to myself, “This isn’t for me! I am too inflexible, unfocused, weak, and look just plain silly in my corner, falling all over the place.” But being an athlete – an avid volleyball player – I don’t give up easily. It wasn’t until I found a method called BUTI Yoga that I fell completely head over heels for all things yoga. I was able to appreciate all forms of yoga, and developed the confidence to fall over in class, knowing that with every fall my body was becoming stronger. Knowing that yoga was achievable for me made me realize that I wanted to share it with those who, just like me, thought that yoga wasn’t for them. I want to break down the barriers that the world has put on yoga, where you have to be fit and flexible to be part of the yoga world. There is no size, shape, color, age, or level of flexibility you have to be to start your journey!
While completing my 200 RYT certification in the Hatha Vinyasa Style, I came to the conclusion that yoga is accessible to anyone who is willing. Through my teaching experience, I have found that being real and open with my students allows them to open up in a non-judgmental class atmosphere. We laugh, cry, cuss, grow, empower, and become confident together. Everyone is at a different place in their practice, and it would be an honor to help you through your yoga journey – wherever that may be!
